Lost Sparrows Eastern Europe Journey

Lost Sparrows In Eastern Europe in 2019

This year is shaping up to be an exciting and busy year. In April we will be traveling first to Sarajevo, Bosnia. We will be spending 5 days providing trauma informed training and visiting orphanages to provide medical and care training. We will be taking educational toys and medical supplies for special needs children. We are actually scheduled to be on a local TV show while there.

After Bosnia, we will be moving on to Sofia, Bulgaria. We will be there from April 4th to the 10th. In Sofia, we will be training government officials and administrators on infant and toddler mental health. We will also be working at a women’s birthing clinic that serves the local Roma population. There we will be providing medical equipment, wound care supplies, and training on how to use them. The clinic is vital to serve the poor Roma families that cannot afford healthcare. We want to support these families as much as possible, hopefully encouraging and maintaining their families.

On April 10th, we will continue on to Moscow, Russia. From the 10th to the 14th, we will be speaking at a conference for foster and adoptive parents on trauma and attachment issues. We are very excited to be able to expand our influence into Russia, and hope to be able to continue speaking and training there over the next years.

We hope to facilitate change in these countries with the goal of hopefully lowering the number of children in their orphanages, and support more children placed into foster homes. As you can imagine, this trip is proving to have more than its fair share of challenges. We are currently in the process of fundraising, collecting medical supplies, scheduling out our days to maximize our time, and sorting out our work and personal family challenges. Our tickets have been purchased, our Visa applications are in the mail, and final details completed.
